Approximately 21 years ago we started with keeping venomous snakes, starting with several types such as Vipera, Sistrurus and several Trimeresurus species. After a period of a year we visit a Belgian friend and rattlesnake keeper and the interest in this group of snakes was born. We decided to start with the group rattlesnakes: Crotalus and Sistrurus.

Today you hear a frequent question, what is a good snake to start with?
In the time that we started with rattlesnakes there was only one question: How to keep them safe and how do you prevent getting bitten?

We also didn't have something like Internet and several forums where you could find the necessary information, everything came from the books and the most important book of references was:
Rattlesnakes: Their habits, life histories, and influence on mankind by Laurence Monroe Klauber. The entirely volume 1 and 2 from this enormous book of references has been read from beginning to end, for many times

Also a very important book in that time was: Snake Venom Poisoning by Findlay E. Russel, a book that in contrast to Klauber contains much more pictures, especially pictures, showing symptoms after a bite.

After a number of years we had built an enormous collection. Right HERE you can take a look at some old pictures. None of these animals are still in our collection because they all died because of the Paramixo virus; witch also caused great problems in other collections. We were the first who had Unicolor in Europe, but also these animals didn't make it.

At the Gallery you can see that we started building a new collection but it will become very difficult to come at the old level, but we do our best.
